Some of you may remember when Star Wars (aka John Stears, John Dykstra, Richard Edlund, Grant McCune and Robert Blalack) won the very first “Best Visual Effects” Oscar back in 1977 but I challenge anyone to list all the winners since. Enter Chicago native and montage master Nelson Carvajal with his latest compilation posted in anticipation of the 86th Academy Awards, a chronological retrospective of all 36 winners – from Star Wars to the Life of Pi.
