Faded..Those CG characters don’t look so hot.
Why is there so much hype around this film again?
August 20th, 2009 at 3:28 pm
Why? Because Jimmy did it!
Don’t you know who Jimmy is?
The director of The Titanic! It even says it on the trailer, duh!

I’m not going to judge the film yet, but don’t those characters look an awful lot like Pan from Pan’s Labyrinth?

@james
I’ll show you those CG characters don’t look so hot.
Don’t usually comment on my own movies but damn some of you anonymous haters upset me!
Have you been working on this movie for almost a decade? I bet not.
Are you the guy who’s won 11 oscars for Titanic?
Oh and coco fuck you.
James Cameron,
Director of the Titanic and Terminator 1 + 2

I completely agree with James. This 3D doesn’t look that fancy to me.
And, btw, what’s the point here? just because Jimmy or any other great director does something, does this mean that it has to be cool regardless of the quality?

Hey Jim
Don’t worry man. Let the haters be haters.
Sorry Weta let you down bro. They’re not usually this bad with CG.

Now seriously.
This could be James Cameron’s “Chinese Democracy”.
Long overdue and way overhyped ‘epic’ and in the end a big flop.
Sorry but this kind of story and concept is so overdone and cheesy. I was expecting more originality from Cameron.
Evil humans invade a lovely place and fight the natives. Evil human (steps into the role of a native) falls in love with native girl and refuses to go back to his own people and helps the poor natives to save their beautiful place.
I really didn’t wanna see Pocahontas made by James Cameron.
Besides it looks like Delgo with budget.
The art design direction is awful. The blue CG dreadlock hippies are way overhyped and don’t look really photoreal even though James promised us we wouldn’t be able to tell they were digital.
And I wouldn’t be surprised if Celine Dion is on the soundtrack again too.
Somebody tell James to go back doing documentary films again, seems like he’s been away for a little too long.

I saw the 3D preview at imax on Friday and while initially underwhelmed by the online trailer, I was blown away by the 3D preview at imax. This film has definitely been made for 3D viewing and at imax is a complete sensory overload. So, after the online trailer my hopes faded, but after the imax trailer they’ve definitely grown.

Oh ok…so in 3d on imax it fixes the tired art direction, unappealing + derivative characters and environments, visual cliches, and seen it all before plot? WOW THAT IS AMAZING TECHNOLOGY! I never thought putting on 3d glasses could have the same effect as getting a cinematic and artistic lobotomy. 5 stars for technology!

Agree with Reck

To truly appreciate the plot all the IMAX and 3D glasses won’t do it’s justice. You’d have to be on Pandora itself with a Na’Vi chick sitting on your lap feeding you blue glowing goo.
I do that in my fantasies.
