Stash 27 is the high note at the end of an astonishing year of growth and innovation for the animation, VFX and motion design industry. The front end of this issue is over-loaded with innovative high-profile spots – NoBrain for Citroen, The Mill for Johnnie Walker, Soho for Dove, Bent Image Lab for Lux, Mikros Image for Nissan, Pete Candeland through Passion Pictures for Gordon's gin and Motion Theory for Microsoft's Zune. Then we change pace with a tense and emotional new music video from Canadian animator Emmanuel Ho that bridges us nicely into the latest broadcast work from Masataka Kawano in Sydney, Capacity in LA, Trollbäck and INTERspectacular in NY, Buzz in Montrea , Citizen Pictures in Denver and Framestore Design in London.
The last half of this magnum opus gets underway with a contrasting pair of music videos – one dark and highly personal from NY's Crankbunny for Demander and the second, a candy-colored bug-infested frolic from Chris Milk for Gnarls Barkley. The resulting tone of happy, unpredictable inspiration continues as we blast through the last movement with intriguing new work from Method, Brand New School, Tronic, Pattern, XYZ, Underground Worm, Sarah Orenstein, Big Sky Effects, Animal Logic and Man vs. Magnet.
