UNKLE “Restless” Video Contest

James Ward of Bristol announced as winner.

From Filmaka:

The time has come to unveil the UNKLE prize winners. As you may know, Filmaka combined forces with the label Surrender All and Canon to provide budgets and equipment to two successful pitches to direct a music video for UNKLE. We were inundated with brilliant entries.

It was a fierce battle, but James Ward from Bristol (aka Scubaboy) was victorious. He unanimously won first place with his hand drawn animation idea. The piece is a riff on the corporate driven world that we’re victims of and addicted to, transforming us into robotic, greedy monsters!

James worked night and day with a budget of only £5,000 GBP (roughly U$10,000) and this week his official video is unleashed.

Runner up was awarded to Anastasia Kirillova’s dark, bleak study of the life of a prostitute on the streets of London. Her live action pitch won over the judges with its audacity. She won an HD camera (Canon’s XH A1) and a micro-budget, and immediately hit the streets to research the underbelly of the oldest profession in the world. She and her producer, Trevor Kelly, had some mad adventures and have worked tirelessly to pull off their documentary style film.
