Biscuit Filmworks today announced that Lucie Bourdeu has joined their directing roster for global representation. With a style that blends cinematic craft and visual comedy, Bourdeu’s films reflect a distinctive aesthetic rooted in her love of genre cinema.
Earlier this year, Bourdeu received a Film Gold at Cannes Lions and a Clio Award for the Valentin Haüy Association, L’Anniversaire De Trop, which she directed and edited. The film is a darkly comic, satirical short highlighting a serious social issue.
Bourdeu’s recent films for Burger King France, out of agency Buzzman, have drawn industry attention. The first is a hyper-focused one-take shot, ASMR performance currently running on television and in theatres. The second Burger King ad is in collaboration with Association Papillons, raising awareness and support for the organisation’s anti-bullying message which reached more than 10million views on TikTok in less than a week. Burger King donated all the proceeds from King Junior sales to the Association Papillons on France’s Anti-Bullying Day.
Bourdeu was born and raised in Paris and started her career as a teen actress while pursuing film studies at ESRA and Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. Her background in front of the camera, as well as in the editing suite, has given her a precise understanding of performance direction and storytelling. She has also directed music videos for artists from the new French Pop and Punk scene, and is currently completing a documentary about the erotic-burlesque troupe, the Fantasma Erotica Circus.
“When I saw L’Anniversaire De Tropearlier this year, I knew I needed to meet Lucie immediately,” said Rupert Reynolds-MacLean, managing director of Biscuit Filmworks UK. “I love her performance-based comedy direction, dark humour, and eye for art direction. We’re delighted to have her bring her unique viewpoint to our roster and excited to start working with her.”
“I’m thrilled to join Biscuit,” said Bourdeu. “Their bold, creative vision truly reflects mine, both in cinema and advertising. I share their human-centered approach, which I deeply value. I’m excited to collaborate on projects that push boundaries, take creative risks, and connect to people worldwide.”
