Polish director Malgorzata Rzanek draws on the medieval theme “dance of death” to create a rhythmic and light-hearted five-minute reflection on our inevitable demise inspired by classic Polish film posters. “Danse Macabre” screened this week as part of La Sélection Cinéfondation at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival.
Rzanek who defines herself as “a non-serious person who has a distance to life”, graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in 2012 with a MA degree. She was also granted a degree with honours from the Hieronim Neumann’s Studio of Animated Film and Lech Majewski’s Studio of Graphic Design.
