HUSH Adds Nicole Messier as Lead Creative Technologist

From the release:

Following the recent addition of Creative Director Garrett Johnston, Brooklyn-based experience design agency HUSH continues to strengthen its exceptional team by welcoming Nicole Messier as Lead Creative Technologist.

Formerly a Senior Creative Technologist at Local Projects, Messier led a range of interactive experiences, most notably Fashion for Good — the world’s first museum dedicated to sustainable fashion innovation. Messier boasts a background emphasizing prodigious versatility; both as an academic holding a position as a part-time Design and Technology Professor at Parsons and as a creative with a keen understanding of brands and a passion for constructing beautifully orchestrated designs at the core of her experiences.

A gifted leader, she will combine her expertise in launching fully integrated experiences with her infectious ability to inspire the people around her. “I understand the importance of fostering both a safe environment for learning, as well as an environment for experimentation,” she explains. “Part of the process of building experiential work is trekking into the unknown and coming up with new solutions — this means I will be constantly learning, as well as facilitating this type of learning and making across the team.”

Messier also has experience working at Deloitte as a Strategy and Operations Consultant, focusing on understanding a client’s business needs and providing them with exceptional solutions. This business acumen, entrepreneurial spirit and a love for tech, engineering and design led her to co-found blink blink – creative circuit kits that provide children with the necessary tools to engineer their own arts, crafts, and fashion projects with the inclusion of technology. Her talents have resulted in widespread recognition from the New York Design Awards, UX Awards, and a slot as a South by South Lawn Fellow.

As Lead Creative Technologist, Messier will collaborate closely with the design teams, facilitate research and development efforts and help build out complex projects by simplifying their systems. “I’m excited that HUSH works on spatial experiences that take into consideration a multitude of disciplines including sound, creative technology, architecture, and design,” explained Messier. Bringing her notable achievements and projects to a company that she has long admired, Messier is thrilled to be joining the roster at HUSH. “I’ve followed HUSH for many years and was really attracted to how the projects were able to seamlessly incorporate creative technology, without overstating it – it’s difficult to find a studio that successfully balances it all.”

According to HUSH Founding Partner David Schwarz, “Nicole is exactly the kind of person we strive to hire. We’re so lucky to have her on the team as her diverse background demonstrates a multitude of talents that span many levels of design and technology. She’s going to have a huge impact on our processes and methodologies, bringing R&D and experimentation even further to the foreground. Additionally, she’s an incredibly articulate, kind and collaborative person who’s already contributing wonderfully to our culture of learning and curiosity.”
