Rise, the award-winning advocacy group for gender diversity in the broadcast and media technology sector, is pleased to announce a new global training programme – Rise Upskill.

Supported by Amazon Web Services (AWS) this training initiative responds to community demand for career-advancing training, certifications and professional skills that empower women in broadcasting. The course will offer Rise community members to choose from two foundational certifications in either cloud computing or artificial intelligence. Applications are now open, with the programme set to run online from June 1 to September 1, 2026.

This fully online initiative is free to Rise community members and accessible globally, providing participants with flexible, self-paced learning supported by AWS resources and training study support drop-in clinics.
 

Two Foundational Certification Pathways

 
Participants will have the opportunity to pursue one of two AWS certifications:

AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
A foundational certification designed to build a baseline understanding of cloud computing within the AWS environment. It covers core cloud concepts, key AWS services, security and compliance, and pricing models. No prior technical experience is required.

AWS Certified AI Practitioner
A foundational certification focused on artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and generative AI concepts within AWS. It is suited to professionals working with AI in business or operational roles, without requiring deep technical expertise.

Both courses are delivered through AWS Skill Builder and are included in the platform’s free subscription.

The programme will support 50 participants in achieving professional certification. Places will be awarded to successful applicants who commit to completing the required coursework and sitting their chosen certification examination within the programme timeline.
Global and Inclusive Access

As a fully online programme, the training is open to Rise members worldwide. The initiative aims to provide broad access to in-demand cloud and AI skills, supporting both technical and non-technical professionals.

This inaugural programme is limited to 50 participants. Those interested can register their interest HERE. Successful applicants will be notified by 15th May and there will be an introductory online session for the 2026 cohort on Thursday 4th June.
