Hornet Invades Shoreditch

In a reverse of the ongoing British invasion of the US post scene, New York and Brooklyn-based production company Hornet opens a studio in London’s Shoreditch district.

From the release:

“I’ve always felt that the London community had great integrity and respect for the craft,” commented Hornet Managing Director Michael Feder. “About half our business comes from Europe — we already represent directors in the UK, Amsterdam, Paris and Barcelona — but London comprises the bulk of our work. Although we’ve had great companies represent us in the past, at this time, it felt right to strike out on our own.”

Hornet’s new venture will lend greater support to their international roster, while also laying the foundation to seek out and develop new talent in the UK. Veteran producer Lisa Hill (most recently of Passion Pictures) will take the reins of Hornet London as Executive Producer, bringing with her over 15 years of extensive industry experience and production expertise.

“We’re looking forward to being on the ground in London, working with new agencies and strengthening our bonds with existing clients,” said Hill.

Hornet London will represent directors Yves Geleyn, Dan & Jason, Peter Sluszka, Julia Pott, Gabe Askew, Eran Hilleli and Parallel. London based director David Luepschen will join the growing roster in February, with two additional signings to follow shortly after.

Recent notable work from Hornet includes the NSPCC “Share Aware” campaign, which they launched with Leo Burnett London just last week. This past October, Hornet began work with Google Creative Lab on their global Android campaign. Hornet’s 2013 Christmas advert for John Lewis with adam&eveDDB and BlinkInk entitled “The Bear and the Hare” garnered multiple awards and major industry recognition.
