Not To Scale is proud to announce that acclaimed director and writer Sam Southward has joined its roster for international representation.

Southward is best known for his striking character design, razor-sharp humour, and his seamless ability to craft bold, immersive worlds through CG animation and live action. His films are celebrated for their offbeat wit and incisive social commentary, often tackling poignant themes while delivering unforgettable laugh-out-loud moments.

He has crafted distinctive work for brands like Google, Milka and OPPO, blending his trademark creative and comedic finesse with cutting edge techniques, such as an interactive installation for Google at the World Economic Forum in Davos, and The Gruffalo Spotter, an augmented reality animated treasure hunt created with Magic Light Pictures and Forestry England which was nominated for a BAFTA.

Southward’s most recent short film ESC was awarded a Vimeo Staff Pick, with the platform’s team saying about the stylised satirical piece: “Leave it to Southward to make the monotony of life look so much cooler.”

His breakout film, After the End, was selected for the prestigious 2015 Annecy International Animation Film Festival and went on to win Gold at the 2016 Young Directors Awards (YDAs). Fresh out of film school at the time, these achievements cemented Southward as one to watch in the international filmmaking community.
Beyond the screen, Southward recently completed his first children’s novel, All Fun And Games, a genre-twisting adventure comedy that showcases his imaginative, rule-breaking storytelling in a whole new medium.
