Shane Griffin Brews Up Motion Art Installation for Guinness

Beer fans who flock to the 120-year-old Guinness Storehouse building in Dublin are now treated to a thoroughly modern art installation courtesy of director/CG artist Shane Griffin and local prodcos Archetype and Algorithm.

Shane Griffin: “This is a multi-floor installation located in Guinness’ flagship tourist destination. The Storehouse plays host to over a million visitors a year.

“The installation is anchored by a 40-foot sculpture rising through the atrium and mapped in 360 degrees using 14 projectors with the program running six minutes. The installation also includes an 80-foot x 8-foot 180-degree cinema screen, a print gallery, and large backlit artworks.

“Conceptually, the pieces are anchored around the ‘surge’ of Guinness, capturing the liquid as it turns from chaotic to calm. Visual metaphors explore the entropy and dynamism of merging fluids, using themes of space, weather, mathematics, and symmetry to captivate the audience during this six-minute journey.”
