Better World x Design (BWxD), the student-led conference hosted by Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), presents interdisciplinary talks, workshops, and discussions October 17th.
Now in its 17th year, the conference brings together students, designers, technologists, entrepreneurs, educators, and community leaders to explore how design can drive meaningful change from personal to social and systematic scales.
Better World by Design’s 2026 conference theme, “Roots,” examines how design can challenge traditional boundaries and conventions to improve the foundational systems that shape our lives—from ecological infrastructures and regenerative materials to cultural identity, local communities, and emerging technologies.
