Ariel Costa for The New York Times “The Interpreter” Director’s Montage

Ariel Costa (aka BlinkMyBrain): “After 200 years of expansion, democracy’s growth in the world has stalled and a handful of democracies like Venezuela and Hungary are backsliding into authoritarianism. Even in established Western democracies, voters are losing faith in democratic institutions and norms.

“The New York Times created a new series to explain this hard subject and they were kind enough to bring me onboard for this journey and to create a series of fun animations to smooth out this heavy theme.

“This is a montage of my favorite parts and some shots that didn’t make into the final cut.”
