Motion North Returns – Manchester, July 9, Streaming Worldwide

Motion North, Manchester’s long-running meetup for motion designers, animators, filmmakers, and VFX artists, returns to Band on the Wall on July 9. This edition features talks from Qian-Hui Yu and Kev McCrae—and for the first time, it’s available to stream globally.

Qian-Hui Yu
Qian is a Chinese animation director and illustrator based in Stoke-on-Trent, currently represented by the London-based creative agency POCKO. She specialises in 2D frame-by-frame animation, crafting vibrant, imaginative worlds through expressive character design, rich colour palettes, and hand-painted textures.

As an animation graduate of the Royal College of Art, Qian has spent the past five years working across a wide range of animation and illustration projects. Her work often draws inspiration from nature, dreams, and surreal moments of daily life, resulting in whimsical visual narratives.

Kev Mcrae, Revenant
Kev McCrae is the Founder and Creative Director of Revenant, where he leads an exceptional team to produce cutting-edge, impactful visual content spanning diverse sectors, including film, digital media, experiential marketing, gaming, and the commercial sphere. With over twenty years of experience in the world of visual arts, Kev’s journey has equipped him with great knowledge of the industry and its ever-evolving landscape.

Revenant’s innovative work spans from cinematic depictions of World’s First Esports District created for Qiddiya’s gaming city, to Future Genesis, a multi-award-winning set of adverts for Oakley, created in collaboration with Kamp Grizzly.

At its heart, everything Revenant creates is tied together by a dedication to storytelling and precision of detail. The studio and Kev have brought this creative vision to clients including Riot Games, National Geographic, the BBC, Netflix, Channel 4, Samsung, Sky, and AKQA.
