SMOG Helps the Stateless “Dance to Live” in New World Economic Forum Film

Director/CD Moises Arancibia at SMOG in Santiago, Chile: “This project was created for the World Economic Forum to mark World Refugee Day 2023.

“The UN estimates there are currently over 32 million refugees worldwide and more than 10 million people who are stateless, meaning they are without nationality and unable to access basic human rights. Ahmad Joudeh was one of them until dancing changed his life.

“WEF’s team came to us with this amazing story they wanted to share using animation. The problem? We only had four weeks to complete the project, and of course, we accepted the challenge.

“So, we figured out a graphic style and an animation technique that worked within our timeline and finally found the balance to create a great piece of work with very limited turnaround time, but with a vast canvas to play around with.”
