Watch the Trailer for Anna Ginsburg’s New Short Film “HAG”

Director Anna Ginsburg, whose wonderfully off-kilter work we track here, just released a dizzying trailer for her latest short film, a dark comedy about “breakups, impending doom, and the monstrous pressures of modern womanhood.”

Produced by Strange Beast and Passion Pictures, co-written by Miranda Latimer, and featuring the voice talents of English actress Charlotte Ritchie, the film was made with the support of BFI National Lottery funding and will screen on the international festival circuit throughout 2026.

“Whilst HAG depicts the female experience, we really hope it resonates with anyone who has suddenly felt alienated from themselves and the world around them.”

Anna Ginsburg: “HAG was born out of a moment where I felt trapped between who I was and who society expected me to be. I wanted to confront those suffocating archetypes head-on and create a film that turns private anxieties into something shared, surreal and, hopefully, liberating.”

Miranda Latimer: “This film is the culmination of historical research, jokes, and conversations around femininity and ageing. Whilst HAG depicts the female experience, we really hope it resonates with anyone who has suddenly felt alienated from themselves and the world around them.”
