Auckland’s Assembly Expands With New York Office

Half Rez is part education, part celebration, part reunion. This year, we’re taking over Chicago’s CineCity for an afternoon and evening of motion design, animation, creative work, and the lovely people making it.
The 2026 event starts with Creative Sessions featuring artists and directors working across motion design, 3D, animation, stop motion, mixed media, and emerging creative tools. This year’s lineup includes David Mellor, Blake Kathryn, and Kaho Yoshida, with EJ Hassenfratz hosting.
This year we have the return of the Studio Tours! A limited number of attendees can hop on a Chicago trolley bound for Flavor, the Field Museum, and more, then head to CineCity for the Half Rez party.
Beyond the talks, the night includes food trucks, drinks, games, installations, vendor booths, and plenty of time to catch up with all the people you know or finally meet people you have only known through a screen.
