Renowned clay animator Rich Zim (Nightmare Before Christmas, Coraline, The SpongeBob Movie) joins animation director Lindsay Berkebile at Planet Super to create a mini stop-motion musical starring Walter the water droplet.
Powered by a cover of the 1960s classic “I’ve Gotta Be Me”, the spot was directed by Aaron Ray at LA prodco Flesh & Bones thru Chicago agency Quality Meats for Florida-based SpringWell Water Filtration.
“Why claymation? Because there’s something honest about a craft with nothing hidden in it — every fingerprint, every frame, right there in the open.”
From SpringWell: “No CGI. No shortcuts. Walter was sculpted from clay and shot frame by frame, the old-fashioned way: tiny adjustments for every second you see on screen.
“Why claymation? Because there’s something honest about a craft with nothing hidden in it — every fingerprint, every frame, right there in the open. Feels about right for a company built on clean water.”
