Add a Little “Bounc” to Your Day with Buff’s New Short Film

The crew at Buff Motion in Brighton, UK, just dropped us their latest in-house experiment, a minimalist and joyful mix of 2D and 3D that “plays with perception and explores how materials, weight, and physics can be subverted.”

Tom Allen, CD/co-founder at Buff: “The project began with the idea of creating a tongue in cheek brand around a simple inanimate object like a rock. We called it Bounc, a playful name that gave personality to something so basic and crude.

“This film began as just a bit of fun but it’s turned into a great reminder of why we love our craft. Carving out time away from client projects allows us to refocus, experiment and ultimately learn.”

“From that starting point, the work evolved into a series of short scenes where flat 2D textures collide with fully rendered 3D objects. By exaggerating weight, flipping expectations and breaking the rules of physics, we injected humor and surprise into each interaction.

“The sound design, produced by Pelican Sound, a mix of instrumentation with moments of restraint, heightens the sense of uncertainty and adds another twist to how expectations are challenged. The audio not only reinforces the mood but also enriches the overall experience, making Bounc feel complete and immersive.
