Ayce Kartal Listens to Schizophrenia in New Short Film “Imaginary Friends”

Working from true accounts, Turkish director and Oscar nominee Ayce Kartal animates a charming and sympathetic look at the inner lives of four schizophrenic patients.

Kartal, who studied animation and filmmaking in Turkey, Australia, and New York, has won over 300 awards on the festival circuit for his previous short films including Backward Run (2013), Birdy Wouaf Wouaf (2016), Wicked Girl (2017), and I Gotta Look Good for the Apocalypse (2020).
