Director, Illustrator, and Animator Julia Deakin Joins IAMSTATIC

From the release:

Toronto animation and design studio IAMSTATIC welcomes director, illustrator, and animator Julia Deakin to its growing team.

Deakin, known for her illustrative style and artful storytelling, has over two decades of experience collaborating with top clients and studios. Recent highlights include spots for the Royal Canadian Mint, US-based Quiktrip, Fairstone, and United Way.

A hallmark of Julia’s work is her ability to create whimsical character-driven films that distill emotional concepts down to their visual essence.

“Julia is exceptionally talented. Her genuine enthusiasm and love for her craft make her a joy to work with for both clients and colleagues. We have been a fan of her work for many years and we are super excited to finally be able to work with her,” said IAS partners Ron Gervais and Dave Greene.

Deakin joins directors Matthew Kalinauskas (Bellzon), Norma Toraya (Crankbunny), and Haley Morris (Shape and Shadow) on the studio’s expanding director roster.

IAMSTATIC’s collaborative team of directors, artists, and creative problem-solvers are veterans of animation and design. Despite the motionless moniker, it’s constantly growing and evolving as a creative studio.

IAMSTATIC’s design-driven, creative-first and craft-focused approach pairs expert technical knowledge with a keen ability to find the story in every project, from motion graphics and animation to CG and live-action. The studio creates award-winning advertising spots and TV/film title sequences for brands like BMW, HBO, and Netflix.
