London studio Posthuman reveals the creative process behind their striking short titled Eden, an AI experiment they describe as a “cinematic exploration of rebirth, balance, and the delicate tension between humanity and the wild.”
Director/founder Dani Macovei at Posthuman: “We’re living at a tipping point — economically, politically, and technologically. The rise of AI is reshaping everything, and we’re faced with a choice: let it spiral into chaos, or use it to imagine something beautiful.
“Eden is our metaphor for the latter — a vision of a world that rediscovers balance, both within itself and with the environment around it. It’s not utopian, but it’s hopeful. It suggests that even after the disruption, something harmonious can emerge.
“The most challenging (and surprisingly human) part was fixing what the AI couldn’t understand: anatomy, continuity, emotion, cohesion.”
“Aesthetically, we aimed for what we call a ‘future primitive’ — a post-AI world that feels ancient and new at the same time. To achieve that, we leaned heavily into AI-driven tools. We generated compositions using various AI models integrated into a custom workflow developed for this project, then animated and stitched them into a flowing narrative.
“The most challenging (and surprisingly human) part was fixing what the AI couldn’t understand: anatomy, continuity, emotion, cohesion. It took a lot of manual work to shape the chaos into something that feels intentional, even poetic.
“In the end, Eden is both a product of AI and a reflection on it, a creative collaboration with the very thing that’s transforming our world.”
