Wolfberg and ALIEN Head to Space for SLSP Bank

Bistro Films directing duo Wolfberg and VFX studio ALIEN (who brought us this monster mayhem), re-team in a retro-future charmer for Slovakian bank SLSP, celebrating “the power of beginnings and the beauty of ambition.”

Jan Kalvoda and Premysl Ponahly (aka Wolfberg): “The main challenge was creating an astronaut training center that wasn’t meant to be realistic, but also not too childish. We wanted the environments to feel like they could exist somewhere — a kind of retro-futuristic place that sparks curiosity without falling into a cartoonish fantasy vibe.

“Since our young lead is training alongside adults, the tone needed to be more grounded. A few scenes had to reflect that early on. But as the story develops, we needed to introduce elements that are more ridiculous, impossible, and visually exciting.

“In post-production, we started with some rough sketches, drawing most of our inspiration from 70s retro-futurism. Then the VFX team at ALIEN Studio had the task of bringing it all to life.

“We already had 3D stills on set, which we could mix live on our green stage to get a better sense of how the scene would work. The timeline was very tight, so there wasn’t much room for experimentation — everything had to closely follow the original concept.”
