Peter Anderson Studio Rolls Out “Margo’s Got Money Troubles” for Apple TV & A24

The multi-BAFTA winning crew at Peter Anderson Studio in London build out a practical and very tactile labyrinth world to open David E. Kelley’s comedy-drama series Margo’s Got Money Troubles on Apple TV.

Peter Anderson, owner/director at Peter Anderson Studio: “After some creative brainstorming, we had the idea of this assault course, a gauntlet built from the chaos of Margo’s world: mounting debts, difficult parents, and the discovery she is about to be a single mum.

“Inspired by the handmade aesthetic Margo uses for her own online content, we leaned into a tactile, DIY sensibility, incorporating props, fabrics, and costumes from the production along with custom fabrications – grounding the sequence in her reality while pushing it into something heightened and surreal.

“We are just delighted to be given the opportunity to make something completely handmade on such a scale.”

“On the technical side, we shot on a fully physical, hand-built set made from hundreds of modular tiles, complete with embedded practical lighting and custom mechanical rigs for moving elements like spinning bottles.

“We captured everything on a bespoke rig with interchangeable walls, then seamlessly combined the footage with a CG Margo and subtle digital world-building.

“A huge worry for us in the industry is the domination of AI-generated material, so we are just delighted to be given the opportunity to make something completely handmade on such a scale.”
