Award-winning production studio Blinkink has announced the worldwide representation of director Radheya Jang, building on their longstanding creative relationship with the home-grown talent. Radheya is welcomed to the roster following a standout run on the international film festival circuit, marking an exciting new chapter in his career as he expands his practice into the commercial space.

Born in Malaysia to South Korean, Japanese, Sri Lankan and Indian heritage, Australian director Radheya Jang is now based in London. Radheya has built a strong reputation in short filmmaking, with his work receiving international recognition on the film festival circuit.

His most recent animated short Trading Cards has been particularly celebrated, winning First Prize for Best Short Animation at Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival, the Yoram Gross Award for Best Australian Animation at Flickerfest, as well as audience awards at Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia and Fantasia International Film Festival, alongside a special jury mention at SXSW London.

The film has been selected for 25 Academy Award-qualifying festivals, with Radheya’s wider body of work screening at festivals including Raindance, Palm Springs International ShortFest, Sydney Film Festival, AFI Fest and Sitges.

His films have earned him four wins at the BFI Future Film Festival across Best Animation, Best Documentary and Best International Film. His short Bird Drone was a finalist in the Sony Future Filmmaker Awards, and The Quiet was among the films eligible for consideration in the Animated Short Film category of the Academy Awards.

Alongside his festival success, Radheya has worked with Blinkink for the past two years, injecting his visually inventive storytelling style to collaborations with brands like Dyson and WaterAid, working across commercial, cultural and socially driven projects.

Radheya adds, “Two years ago, I moved to the other side of the world to work at Blinkink, having never even been to the UK before. It completely changed the trajectory of my life. I feel so honoured to be joining such an incredible roster of directors, many of whom I’ve had the privilege of learning from and working alongside during my time here. Being signed to this beautiful studio is something I’ve been working towards for a long time, and I’m so excited to see what the future holds.”

For Blinkink, Radheya’s signing builds on an existing creative relationship with the director and they look forward to bringing his ambitious visual language and storytelling-led approach to the studio’s commercial roster.

Radheya joins the studio’s roster alongside an international collective of directors working across live action, animation, puppetry and storytelling.
