Whether created to bolster your portfolio, explore new tools/techniques, or simply as an escape from the restraints of client work, personal projects and spec work continue to provide a crucial outlet for pent-up motion design energy.
We were honored to publish all of these projects in The Stash Permanent Collection during 2025. They are listed here in reverse chronological order by their issue of publication.

Jaehoon Sung, CD at Ticcle Studio in Seoul, South Korea: “‘Into Clarity’ is a personal short film created to explore visual beauty and express my own artistic philosophy through the flow and rhythm of the film. It is also part of my ongoing series that combines emotional storytelling and physical simulation.
“Although achieving certain simulation effects was technically demanding, the most challenging part was designing the story and flow that would drive the film forward.”

Oleg Lyakhov CD at theoutpoint, in Bali, Indonesia: “We created the piece after noticing a lack of emotionally driven motion design in the world of engineering visuals. Most content felt overly technical or dry, so we wanted to explore what happens when precision meets emotion, when engineering is visualized as something almost alive.
“From a creative point of view, we went into abstraction and metaphor rather than literal machinery. The jet engine becomes a symbolic core around which forces of motion, data, and energy spiral, visualized through simulations and design-driven sequences.”
Issue: STASH 173
Dillon Hutchins, ECD at Stylo Creative: “After establishing a strong creative voice in the skincare industry, we saw an opportunity to evolve our thinking within the world of luxury cosmetics.
“Rather than rely on traditional beauty tropes, we pursued an exploration of tone, tension, and visual experimentation. Aggressive movements, mirrored chrome, and dreamlike gestures converge in a world that’s more sensation than structure.”

János Nyujtó, 3D director/animator in Budapest, Hungary: “This was a self-initiated R&D project, so I set my own challenge: create a speculative Nike campaign piece that merges bold design with advanced Houdini simulations, pushing both the technical and artistic side of product animation.
“The creative challenge was finding the right balance between technical simulation and design. Early on, I explored a more futuristic, neon direction, but I realized the splash-paint aesthetic communicated energy and chaos in a way that felt stronger.”

YoungJin Park, director/animator in Seoul, South Korea: “This video is an experimental personal project produced to visually showcase the innovative design and technology of the Vanmoof S5 city bike.
“Inspired by a futuristic sci-fi style, the video captures the process of testing and assembling the bike’s core components in a high-tech laboratory to illustrate how Vanmoof’s vision for the perfect city bike comes to life.”

Rui Figueiredo, CEO/CD at Reframe Studio in Seoul: “This was a pitch project for Bang and Olufsen – a chance to treat motion as something poetic. We were asked to reimagine the Beoplay H95 in a way that captured both the premium design and the emotional experience of sound by translating it into a visual narrative.
“Unfortunately, we were not awarded the full project. However, we didn’t lower our heads; instead, we took the time to continue and put the final film together.”

Yujin Song, director/animator in Goyang, South Korea: “The Balmuda MoonKettle reinterprets the functional beauty of traditional kettles through a modern perspective.
“The biggest challenge was designing and creating a space that harmonized naturally with the product. Since I don’t have a background in interior or spatial design, every aspect of the project felt like a new adventure. However, through constant experimentation and reflection, I was eventually able to capture the atmosphere I envisioned.”
