In their latest personal work, CD/co-founders Romina Giarrizzo and Marco Salemi at Hup.Studio in Milan invite the audience to reconsider perception while “revealing the subtle beauty that emerges through transformation.”
Romina Giarrizzo and Marco Salemi: “Refracted is a film that explores the tension between clarity and illusion, what is visible yet transformed, inspired by the organic fragility of flowers seen through distorted glass – showing how our increasingly mediated world shapes our relationship with nature.
“The challenge was capturing the delicate dialogue between the flowers and the glass, revealing the beauty of each without allowing them to compete.”
“The challenge was capturing the delicate dialogue between the flowers and the glass, revealing the beauty of each without allowing them to compete. Every scene unfolds as a unique moment, yet all belong to the same visual world, creating a rhythm that is both cohesive and dynamic.
“Another layer of the challenge was maintaining a modular set of animations that felt consistent yet never repetitive, ensuring the film flows as a unified, evolving experience – structured, yet full of subtle surprises, such as motion blur and depth of field.”
