The 25th edition of the OFFF Festival wrapped Saturday in Barcelona with this meditative film from Territory Studio, its cinematic vistas underscored with audio by Echoic and a poem by Spanish writer/filmmaker Jade de Robles.
Marti Romances, co-founder at Territory Studio in San Francisco: “We were determined to ensure these titles could only belong to OFFF Barcelona. We’ve often seen festival titles that feel disconnected from their event or location, something we wanted to avoid entirely. That’s why we began by exploring the key elements that define OFFF Barcelona, with special attention to its 25th anniversary.
“The message of the enduring power of creation, the inspiration we draw from it, and the role of OFFF as a catalyst for future works that, one day, may also stand the test of time.”
“To capture the essence of the city, the Territory team photographed a curated selection of iconic and timeless artworks, then extracted 3D versions of those elements using an image-to-mesh AI model, and incorporated them into the scenes using Cinema 4D.
“The Sound design team at Echoic followed the same philosophy, traveling to Barcelona to capture ambient sounds on-site. These recordings were then transformed into synthesized instruments, forming the foundation of the audio piece, layered with the poem’s voice over.
“The film has intentionally understated visuals detailing the line-up of this year’s festival, flowing gently, allowing space for reflection. The message of the enduring power of creation, the inspiration we draw from it, and the role of OFFF as a catalyst for future works that, one day, may also stand the test of time.”
