Bohdan Marii Jumps the Shark in Adidas Ozweego’s

Ukrainian 3D motion designer Bohdan Marii handles the design, animation and audio in this striking spec spot playfully hinting at the similarities between the Adidas Ozweego shoe and a certain toothy underwater predator.

Bohdan Marii: “I made this project to take my portfolio to the next level. I was thinking about a beauty product. Maybe jewelry? Or perfume? But at one point, I clearly understood I wanted to make sneakers. But I did not have to choose a brand because I have my favorite. I’d be happy if Adidas saw this.

“I’m not sure which part of the project took me longer, the technical part or the idea. Because a script, some originality or exclusivity is very important to me, especially if it is a personal project in which I am the art director.

“Sneakers are not just about running. They are also about style and originality. Advertisements can display sculptors, painters, architects, chefs, and anyone else. It is difficult for me to call my work original, but at least there is no running here. And if you noticed, the animations are very simple. I did almost all the work in Cinema 4D.

“A year ago, after my first unsuccessful attempt to work in a 3D studio, I got a job in a warehouse to earn at least some money. And every day after work, I hurried home to do this project. I think it will be my business card for some time. Several clients have already inquired about my services as a 3D animator. I think this project will bring me back to my career.”
