Co-directors Pedro Conti and Diego Maia at Flooul Animation in São Paulo, transport viewers back to the tumultuous last years of 20th century Brazil in this dense and dynamic video for rapper/songwriter and cultural icon Emicida.
Pedro Conti and Diego Maia: “We have worked with Emicida over the last couple years, and that relationship has stabilized in a collaboration based on trust. For this project, Emicida was working on a new album so he was very busy and let us make most of the creative decisions.
“In this song ‘Quanto vale o show memo?’ (‘How much is the show really worth?’), Emicida is talking about big historical moments in Brazil from 1988 to 2003 – so every five seconds it’s a different topic. The challenge was to create a workflow that allowed us to cover all the scenes we needed in order to support the history we wanted to tell.”
