Imaginary Forces CD Ronnie Koff (hot off his Emmy nom for the Dark Matter titles) conjures a collision of Cold War cultures to open Paramount’s buddy espionage thriller Ponies, with theme music by Jung Jaeil (Parasite, Squid Game)
From the team at Imaginary Forces: “Ponies explores a world defined by contradiction, where glossy surfaces mask systems of control, and cultural identity is shaped by both desire and secrecy.
“The creative challenge was to express the ideological clash between pervasive Western culture and the rigid, secretive world of Soviet tradecraft while maintaining clarity, momentum, and atmosphere.”
“Through a single, continuous camera descent into hidden compartments, redacted documents, and everyday objects, the sequence visualizes the collision of Western consumerism and Soviet-era espionage, setting the tone for the series.
“The creative challenge was to express the ideological clash between pervasive Western culture and the rigid, secretive world of Soviet tradecraft while maintaining clarity, momentum, and atmosphere within a tight runtime.
“Drawing from Cold War iconography, period consumer advertising, and archival espionage materials, the sequence incorporates client-provided props and production design assets to anchor the visuals in the show’s world while reinforcing a bold, cohesive branded identity.”
