The Snowman Celebrates 40 Years on Channel 4

UK broadcaster Channel 4 marks the 40th anniversary of both the network and Raymond Briggs’ instant classic Christmas special The Snowman with a sweet holiday ID featuring characters from the original program and its sequel.

Commissioned by Channel 4’s in-house creative agency 4creative, the ID was directed by Robin Shaw and hand-animated by a small crew of 2D animators at Lupus Films using TVPaint. Lupus Films produced the The Snowman sequel, The Snowman and The Snowdog in 2012.

Lupus Films co-founder Camilla Deakin: “We are really honored to have been asked to bring The Snowman back to life for the 40th anniversary of this very special animated classic. It’s particularly poignant for us at the time of the tenth anniversary of The Snowman and The Snowdog and after the death earlier this year of our long-time friend and collaborator, the inimitable Raymond Briggs.”
