Memory & Connection: BOL & Device Explore Solitude in “Every Light In Between” Short Film

Working thru BOL in Barcelona, directors Pol Solà, Guille Comin, and the animation crew at Device explore themes of memory and connection in Every Light In Between, a short film that feels both universal and very personal.

The story follows an astronaut trapped alone on a remote planet with no way to contact Earth. Sustained by his memories, he finally surrenders to the planet’s silence and discovers that survival without connection may not be survival at all.

“Much like the story it tells, the process itself moved from something isolated to something more open, driven by determination and energy, embracing the challenges that ultimately shaped the final result.”

Guille Comin: “The idea was born during lockdown, a moment that now feels very distant in time. Returning to it, allowing your perspective to shift, adjusting the team, and rediscovering its meaning were some of the challenges that shaped the film.

“From a technical standpoint, the project evolved as well. What began as a traditionally animated 2D film, with a more contemplative and cinematic spirit, gradually pushed further, incorporating 3D cameras and environments to give greater depth to its more dreamlike moments.
