Jellyfish on Ice: Studio River Wades into the CG Watch Wars

The crew at Paris CG house Studio River dip their toe into the 3D watch wars with this spec spot for Hublot called R.EVISITED – a standout black and white treatment that is both stark and wonderfully nuanced.

Keyvan Nourian, co-founder at Studio River: This film is a creative exploration of the visual language of luxury watch advertising. Through a fictional campaign, we set out to develop a distinctive aesthetic while deepening our understanding of the codes and craftsmanship behind this genre.

“At its core, the film is a visual meditation on time: even in complete stillness, time continues to shape its own story.”

Set beneath the frozen surface of the Arctic Ocean, a watch lies trapped within the ice. A mysterious, jellyfish-like creature with translucent tentacles circles it endlessly, as if guarding the passage of time itself.

Rendered in a minimalist black-and-white aesthetic, each frame magnifies stillness until, at last, the underwater ice fractures. The watch breaks free, rises through the dark waters, and emerges majestically at the surface.

At its core, the film is a visual meditation on time: even in complete stillness, time continues to shape its own story. It never truly stops, always finding a way forward.
