“Alma” Short Film by Valère Amirault

After developing a technique to render 3D animation in a 2D style, Jungler director Valère Amirault reached out to illustrator and former Supinfocom classmate Lili des Bellons to collaborate on this short film called “Alma.”

Alexandra Chavane, EP at Jungler in Paris: “Throughout the process, there was a lot of back and forth between the two to match their styles and techniques, all based on a visual world Lili had already created.

“The film was created in 3D by Valère, including backgrounds, and then Lili then enhanced the images, drawing certain elements in 2D for more detail. (you’ll find an image to illustrate the process below).

“In terms of music, Valère knew from the beginning that he wanted to collaborate with the artist Grand Soleil, whose psychedelic synthwave style would perfectly match the images they were creating. The whole process took about a month and a half from start to finish.”
