In their latest work for Aston Martin, AltSpace CDs Igor Voloschuk and Dmitry Egorov build out 10 immaculate CG films revealing the intense engineering underneath the sleek exterior of the marque’s mid-engine PHEV hybrid supercar.
Igor Voloshchuk: Aston Martin approached us when the design of Valhalla was already out there. Now they wanted to show what was happening inside and what the engineering actually allowed it to do.
That really spoke to us because it’s close to why we started the studio. There’s a lot of beauty in a really well-resolved piece of engineering, and I think you can appreciate it without understanding all the calculations behind it.

Dmitry Egorov: Visually, we started with an elaborate laboratory where the car might go through its final checks before production. But as we developed it, we realized there was too much stuff competing with the car, so we stripped a lot of it away. It ended up closer to a photography studio, with a technological feel but very little detail.
Valhalla is very elegant on the outside, so we naturally wanted to carry that through to the inside. We were thinking of a technology museum inside the car, using glass and transparency so you could look through the shell and see the components. What we hadn’t really anticipated was how much render time all that glass would cost us.
