OnePlus x Hasselblad Teasers by BlinkMyBrain (Director’s Cut)
Mobile maker OnePlus upped their camera game by partnering with photo uber-brand Hasselblad and then hired Final Frontier director BlinkMyBrain (aka Ariel Costa) as part of their push to make sure Chinese consumers know about it.
Final Frontier EP Chris Colman: “Hasselblad cameras have been responsible for some of the most iconic photographs in history. However, we didn’t have the rights to use many of them, so this became an exercise in finding creative solutions to represent them through illustration.
“The strategic approach resulted in pieces that are mostly told through monochrome, atmospheric, and often abstract, 2D motion graphics with splashes of color and occasional 3D elements.
“BlinkMyBrain took the three 60-second spots we created and remixed them into this beautiful director’s cut, a retrospective of Hasselblad’s cameras from WWII to your next OnePlus mobile.
“With just six weeks from pitch to delivery, the project required an ultra-smooth pipeline and execution. Working directly with the client in Shenzhen, China, and managing the production from our Shanghai and Buenos Aires offices, we penned the scripts, before building a team of artists to support the director in Los Angeles.”
BlinkMyBrain: “Telling a story highlighting the features without actually showing the product made us re-think the concept, pivoting the films into the language of a camera, such as aperture, focus, lenses, and flares. This allows for an interesting and subtle conversation, full of historic design moments.”
The teasers were released on Chinese social media platforms ahead of the official launch of the OnePlus 9.
