“Story of Flowers 2” by Azuma Makoto, Katie Scott, and James Paulley

The second in a series of four films coming from Japanese flower artist Azuma Makoto, “Story of Flowers 2” finds illustrator Katie Scott and animator James Paulley continuing the detailed execution and calm pacing they introduced in the first film.

Azuma Makoto: “The Story of Flowers animation series launched in 2017 as a gift to children worldwide, with the first film exploring the life cycle of flowering plants.

“In part two we delve into the relationship between flowers and humans: the way we involve flowers in our lives through various cultures and practices. The animation looks at flowers not from a material viewpoint; instead seeing them as symbols of connection, a way we share emotions.

“This is a difficult time for people globally, with so many of us living under the influence of Covid-19. It is our belief that flowers can encourage and heal, silently helping us move forward.

“We hope that this beautiful four-minute animation can be enjoyed by both children and adults across the globe, as we wish from the bottom of our hearts for the return of peaceful days.”
