Director Jules Bourgès, who we first spotted in 2019 as one of the student co-directors of this Gobelins film, just released this hand-crafted animated fantasy for composer/producer Mistthom, produced thru WIZZ in Paris.
Jules Bourgès: As with any fairy tale, I felt it was important to stand up for a particular value, and to make it as universal as possible. Here, I’m trying to explore the importance of valuing things for the right reasons and remaining humble in the face of the world around us.
I want to question the notion of ownership and challenge materialism, the pursuit of profit through the exploitation of others for personal gain. 2D animation allows you to break free from reality and take the viewer somewhere else. I think it’s an excellent medium for telling this kind of story.
