Caffeine Global Enters “La Casa de los Espíritus” for Amazon Prime Video

Caffeine Global, a motion design and post studio based in Mexico City, makes their Stash debut with these tactile and atmospheric titles for the new Amazon Prime Video epic drama series La Casa de los Espíritus.

Raxel Andara, CD/director at Caffeine Global: “The brief called for a one-minute sequence that could capture the layered, multi-generational story of the Trueba family while honoring the magical realism at the heart of the novel by Isabel Allende.

“Our concept reveals the rise and fall of the family through tarot cards, but with a twist: we see the cards forming rooms and assembling into La Casa de la Esquina, the central setting of the story, the house of the spirits itself.

“The brief called for a one-minute sequence that could capture the layered, multi-generational story of the Trueba family while honoring the magical realism at the heart of the novel.”

“The sequence sets the mood for the show while quietly revealing the entire arc of the story. Viewers who haven’t read the novel won’t fully grasp what they’re seeing until the final chapter, when everything clicks into place; for those who have read this very special book, it’s a thrilling moment of recognition.

“This concept brought a unique set of creative and technical challenges. We had to design the house and each of its rooms, built entirely out of tarot cards, and figure out how those cards would progressively reveal each part of the mansion’s interior.

“On the technical side, we built a CGI pipeline in Cinema 4D and Redshift capable of rendering enough texture and depth to feel hand-crafted rather than purely digital, while keeping the shadow-based transitions smooth and consistent across every card.

“Balancing a painterly, tactile aesthetic with the production efficiency required for a full episodic package was the central challenge, which we solved through iterative style frame development before committing to final animation.”
