Eddy director Clément Soulmagnon (whose work we track here), amplifies his signature animated poetry into far more intense and fiery territory in this new brand film for top-tier French cycling brand Van Rysel.
From the team at Eddy: “The film unveils the RCR-F INFERNO, a new high-performance racing bike. Designed and produced in record time, the film offers a visceral, immersive dive into the mind of a cyclist trapped in the final lap of an endless race.
“Van Rysel wanted a piece that could showcase their most advanced bike while breaking away from the usual premium codes. Instead of polished perfection, we proposed something more instinctive, more intense — something that could convey speed, pressure, and obsession through movement and atmosphere.
“The film offers a visceral, immersive dive into the mind of a cyclist trapped in the final lap of an endless race.”
“We worked hand in hand with the Van Rysel product and creative teams to shape the film. They helped us capture the technical precision expected by their audience, especially when it came to the rider’s posture, attack phases, and sprinting gestures. Every detail had to feel authentic.
“The film unfolds in a single continuous shot. The camera flows around the rider, shifting angles and scales to build a hypnotic rhythm. The race becomes metaphor: Cerberus, Sisyphus, and serpents all emerge in this surreal vision of hell.
“We built a raw, textured animation where nothing is too clean, too smooth. The restricted palette — black, red, orange, white, grey — guides fast transitions and bold compositions. Silhouettes, speed lines, and visual distortions create a sense of friction, repetition, exhaustion.”
