Code Architecture: Panoply Build a Brand Film for Graphite

Panoply partners Mark Lindner and Simon Holmedal, whose client and experimental work we track here, just dropped us their latest CG opus, an intricate and intriguing brand film for AI code review platform Graphite.

Mark Lindner and Simon Holmedal: “The film translates the process of code review into an architectural visual language. Built around the stages of build, review, amend, and merge, the film uses evolving structures to communicate Graphite’s workflow through form rather than explanation.

“The primary challenge was finding a visual metaphor that could communicate code review without relying on familiar representations of software or programming. Rather than illustrating code directly, we wanted to express the underlying principles of iteration, collaboration and refinement through a physical system that audiences could intuitively understand.

“We developed an architectural language where every structure evolves through successive stages of construction and revision. Each change is purposeful, reflecting the way Graphite enables developers to build, review and improve their work.

“The interface appears as part of this system rather than sitting separately from it, allowing the product to feel naturally embedded within the narrative instead of interrupting it. This approach created a brand film that communicates Graphite’s role through progression and transformation rather than explanation.

“The technical challenge was creating an environment that could rebuild and evolve while maintaining a consistent architectural language. We developed procedural systems that allowed structures to be assembled, modified and refined through repeatable construction logic, mirroring the behavior of the product itself.

“This procedural approach gave us the flexibility to iterate quickly as the creative evolved while ensuring every transition remained coherent.”
