Kdbra Reveals Lifecycle of the “The Capperpillar”

Ilya Lindberg, founder and art director at Kdbra in St. Petersburg, Russia: “When you hear about plastic recycling, what’s the first thing that comes to mind?

“Maybe You think of separate garbage cans on the street. Or you think of someone taking one plastic and turning it into another. But it’s a lot more interesting than that.

“Ordinary bottle caps from plastic bottles can turn into badges, chairs, shopping bags, buttons, or a skateboard! This transformation so captured my imagination that I couldn’t think of anything better to do than make a movie about it.

“I found a very similar story that takes place in nature. The transformation of a caterpillar into a butterfly. From there came the beautiful Capperpillar.

“I like to think about the life journey of an individual cap. How after fulfilling its purpose, it goes on a journey and turns out to be part of a skateboard deck.

“This is a non-commercial short film inspired by what the folks at preciousplastic.com and 99recycle.ru are doing.”
