MonoGrafo Opens “Iron Reign” for Netflix With Grit and Menace

CD Fernando Marcilla and the team at Madrid motion design studio MonoGrafo, whose versatile talent for title sequences can be witnessed here and here, sets a gritty and menacing tone for the Netflix Spanish crime thriller series Iron Reign.

Fernando Marcilla: “Iron Hand is a thriller about the mafia that controls the port of Barcelona, one of the largest drug gateways in Europe. After considering several more dreamlike creative options, it was concluded that the port was actually a main character and a good starting point to revolve the opening credits sequence around it.

“The challenge was to create a rough, arid, and mechanical environment. There is no life, there are no human beings, only a metallic, dead, brutal landscape that seems to move by inertia, crushing everything that arises in its path, as it does with the lives of the protagonists of the series.”
