EDGLRD Launches Marathon With “In Death We’ve Just Begun” Music Video

Directors Harmony Korine and Sam Goldwater launch Bungie’s reboot of their Marathon game franchise with action, atmosphere, and arresting camera work in this music video/cinematic produced through Korine’s studio EDGLRD.

Yates Holley, head of CG: “This project was about pushing scale and density without losing clarity. Harmony’s direction demanded something bold but disciplined, where every technical decision served the feeling first.

“We weren’t trying to explain the game. We were trying to make you feel like you’d already stepped into its world. The goal was impact, not instruction.”

“The film was constructed as a fully CG work within an Unreal-based pipeline and leans into stylized realism and aggressive visual pacing. Environments, FX, and animation are treated less as individual disciplines and more as a unified system, shaping a world that feels already in motion.”

John Kim CG Supervisor: “We weren’t trying to explain the game. We were trying to make you feel like you’d already stepped into its world. The goal was impact, not instruction.

“The result sits somewhere between a reveal and a piece of moving image work, pointing toward a more expressive, less literal direction for game marketing.”
