Antimatter motion design studio in Milan: “Talking about gender topics has never been easy. It is an intricate issue as it implies several biological and cultural aspects and is often surrounded by ideological preconceptions.

“Talking about intersex is even more challenging as on top of the mentioned difficulties, the word itself – let alone its challenging dynamics – is virtually unknown by the vast majority of the public.

“We came up with a script that in our eyes was delicate, poetic and clear enough. But what about in everyone else’s eyes?

“To find an answer to this we involved Fifth Beat, a research and design studio that created a focus group with people from a wide range of social and cultural backgrounds. After some adjustments based on those newfound insights, we were ready to animate.

“It came naturally to opt for traditional animation techniques as they allowed us to give a more authentic life to the characters and ensure a human touch behind the production.

“The heartfelt voice you here in the video is from Pidgeon Pagonis, an American artist and leading intersex activist.”
