Imagine Dragons “Sharks” Music Video by Ingenuity Studios

With a nod to title design master Saul Bass, creative director Alex Popkin and the animation team at Ingenuity Studios in LA craft a lyric music video adventure for Imagine Dragons new release “Sharks”.

Alex Popkin: “The Sharks brief was completely open-ended, and the winning pitch was just one of five phenomenal ideas that the team came up with.

“Since every member of our team has a swiss-army-knife skill set, we are accustomed to solving a wide variety of motion/VFX problems with all the tools at our disposal. We bring a boutique mentality to our projects – everything is made by hand, by artists and animation lovers who put a lot of thought and care into what they are making.

“We primarily worked with After Effects, Illustrator, and Blender, plus a wonderful typeface that is an homage to Saul Bass called “Hitchcock” by Matt Terich (made available on typographica.org). The character rigs were a combination of DUIK Bassel and Limber, and the artwork was imported from Illustrator using Overlord.”

In stark contrast to the motion design and typography of this project, in 2017 Ingenuity teamed with director Joseph Kahn for the Imagine Dragons “Thunder” video, a brilliant and VFX-heavy piece of work.
