Tektura Studio Blurs the Line Between Art and Product

Polish CG house Tektura Studio just landed on the Stash radar with this kinetic in-house ode to the classic Sony Walkman, a stylish exercise in rendering and motion that nudges forward the boundaries of 3D brand and product films.

From Tektura Studio: “In this project, we aimed to deviate from the norms – delving into the essence of modern retro, steering away from the well-explored realms of 3D beauty product presentations. No predefined templates, just a fresh perspective featuring a touch of motion blur and unconventional shots.

“Motion blur was implemented directly in the 3D environment in Cinema 4D. This decision, while significantly increasing rendering time, contributed to heightened realism.”

“The simulations of the expanding sponge and tape movements were achieved using Houdini. Recreating tape movements involved finding a suitable flexibility for realistic wrapping. The sponge presented a unique challenge: ensuring the texture expanded proportionally with the geometry (without the ‘floating texture’ effect).

“Motion blur was implemented directly in the 3D environment in Cinema 4D. This decision, while significantly increasing rendering time, contributed to heightened realism. In the final scene, preserving motion blur during slow movements was achieved by strategically using three pairs of headphones. They momentarily spread out and then converged, creating the illusion of motion blur despite the gradual movement.

“We are huge fans of Aphex Twin and wanted to capture the spirit of his music in this project, which was made possible thanks to the amazing team at Zelig Sound.”
