Nina Fabel, head of production & operations at Woodwork Amsterdam: “Invited to create a complete design system for the awards, and given complete creative freedom, we developed an identity that felt as bold, energetic, and unpredictable as the creative industry it celebrates.
“Inspired by geodes, ordinary rocks hiding extraordinary crystal formations within, we imagined creative ideas as layers of energy, color, and expression gradually building pressure beneath the surface.”
We explored the idea of creativity as a force compressed over time. Inspired by geodes, ordinary rocks hiding extraordinary crystal formations within, we imagined creative ideas as layers of energy, color, and expression gradually building pressure beneath the surface.
The visual system follows this transformation. Raw material evolves into intricate crystal structures, revealing vibrant layers reminiscent of RGB color separation, print registration, and stacked video frames. These layers eventually crystallize into the GEMA statuette, a symbol of creative excellence emerging from years of experimentation, craft and imagination.
The result is a vibrant and immersive visual world that balances raw creative energy with refinement, providing a striking backdrop while allowing the awarded work to remain center stage.
